Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Neurologist, Patna: Personal Experience, Review and Appointment

Patna is known for doctors and coaching classes. Wherever you might be in the capital of Bihar, you are destined to find coaching classes and doctors. In this context, it becomes highly obnoxious for an unknown person to find a good doctor in Patna among mushrooming clinics. Here I am talking about neurologist. There are more than two hundred neurologists in Patna. Who is the best? Well, it is simply not possible to answer this question. But, there are few on whom you can have faith. One is Dr. Sanjay Kumar. 

Dr. Sanjay Kumar is a neurologist who is quite different. He is not so old, but has already become popular for his sharp and accurate diagnosis. If you are going to visit him for the first time, the first thing you may notice is his ability to call out the disease and problem of the patient within few seconds. The diagnostic tests are done just for confirmation. 



Further, the treatment style of Dr. Sanjay Kumar is also quite different. He loathes prescribing unnecessary medicines. It has always been his motive to prescribe the minimum possible medicines to the patient. Similar is the case with diagnostic tests. This is, in fact, a common complain among patients in Patna that doctors unnecessary asks for many tests – blood, CT Scan, MRI, Nerve Tests, etc. Dr. Sanjay Kumar is not like that.

What I like about him is when he asked for MRI test to my uncle. We have been to him after visiting many doctors. When I went for MRI, I was shocked to see that I was asked to pay Rs. 2000 less than what I was paying. When queried, the reply was blunt. Dr. Sanjay Kumar doesn’t take any commission from MRI center and hence the benefit is passed on to the patient. OK. If you are from Patna, you might be aware of this ongoing practice of ‘commission’ for doctors. 

Appointment of Dr. Sanjay Kumar

One of the major problems with Dr. Sanjay Kumar is his appointment. Actually, you are required to get appointment 30 to 40 days before the scheduled meeting. What if there is an emergency and you want to speak to the doctor on the same day? Well, in that case, you will be required to shell out more – Rs. 1500. 

There is huge rush at Dr. Sanjay Kumar which is quite evident from long waiting for getting his appointment. I think he needs to do something to manage the rush.

You will be required to pay Rs. 1000 for new appointment. If you want same day appointment, then pay Rs. 1500. For old patients – this comes out to be Rs. 400 and Rs. 700, respectively.
